Prince Charles’ former estate for sale for $6.75M

This six-bedroom farmhouse, once owned by Prince Charles, is located in Dartmeet, in Devon’s Dartmoor National Park. At the end of a long private driveway, it is surrounded by ancient woodland, wildflower meadows, and stunning landscapes all around.

Built in 1893 and completed in 1906, the Edwardian-style estate belonged to the Duchy of Cornwall and was then leased to Prince Charles. Later, it was sold to the current owners for an undisclosed sum, who completely renovated the property in 1993.
The 9-acre arts-and-crafts home features beautifully landscaped gardens, two 3-bedroom cottages, a garage with eight parking spaces, a tennis court, and a gym. If that weren’t enough, there are fishing rights to the River Dart, where Prince Charles still has a right to fish, and direct access to the moor. You will also find a lobby, a library, a drawing-room, a dining room, a study, a gun room with a fireplace, and a reception hall. Bentley Cottage highlights an open-plan kitchen, conservatory, and balcony. Herb Cottage features an entrance hallway, a master suite with a shower, a kitchen, and a dining room.

On the ground floor, there are six accessible bedrooms. The master suite with an en-suite bathroom offers breathtaking views of the moor. Then, the impressive kitchen and breakfast room feature a central island with a glass ceiling that allows lots of natural light. Next, you’ll find a hydro pool and a shower room. Built from pink granite and turrets, there is exposed stonework throughout the house, high ceilings, generous entertaining spaces, and a south-facing position to ensure plenty of light. Outside, you’ll find a terrace, a barn with access to an eleven-meter balcony, a dog kennel, a pump house, and a garden store. Renovations include a new clay roof, 120 hand-crafted windows, bespoke oak paneling, and polished granite floors.

Dartmoor National Park was designated as one in 1951. It is the largest and highest upland in southern Britain where a range of wildlife can be found. It is also an exceptional spot for different activities like walking, cycling, horseriding, climbing, and canoeing. It remains a very accessible area, nearby the Yelverton Bohemians Cricket Club and the Tavistock Inn.
