With Election Day just around the corner, the Obamas are already making plans for post-presidential life. The current Commander in Chief and First Lady have reportedly signed a contract to lease an 8,200-square-foot home in Washington D.C.’s upscale neighborhood of Kalorama.
2446 Belmont Road NW is a red-brick residence comprised of nine bedrooms and eight-and-a-half bathrooms over three stories (not including a lower level).
A central hall leads from the marble foyer to the formal dining area and living room, which features a fireplace, an adjoining sitting room overlooking the garden, and an outdoor terrace. French doors connect the formal spaces to the stone-tiled outdoor patio, which showcases a manicured lawn and multiple lounge areas.
The main-level kitchen—which leads into the family room—centers on a marble-top breakfast bar flanked by a six-burner stove, ample cabinetry, and an informal dining area. Upstairs, the master suite is accompanied by a spacious dressing room, a study, and his-and-hers baths.
A few of the bedrooms have been repurposed to serve as other spaces, including an exercise room, a playroom, and a home office. The ground floor—which offers access to the two-car garage—houses a media room, a second kitchen/laundry facility, a wet bar with wine storage, and an in-law suite.
According to public records, the estate has an estimated market value of $7 million—a figure expected to increased by over $300,000 in the coming year.
